Inputs

When BVX starts, it opens the Overview screen of a New Valuation template. All input fields are in the top 2/3 section of the Overview screen, which is Sky Blue in color. All output values are displayed in the bottom 1/3 section of the Overview screen, which is green in color. Separate input windows pop up when one uses the Advanced Features.

BVX will not function unless all inputs are entered. You must enter zero instead of leaving a data cell blank. BVX will come up with the error message " Enter proper data in highlighted fields." if any input cell is left blank. Input cells turn pink in color when values are entered. These values are accepted by BVX only after the user clicks Deal Quantifier™ or Deal Optimizer™, at which time the pink color turns white.

BVX requires inputs in the following categories:

  1. Income Statement
  2. Balance Sheet
  3. Future Growth & Expenses
  4. Financing
  5. Deal Structure
  6. Miscellaneous
  7. Taxation
  8. Advanced Features

Strong Recommendation: BVX performance (i.e., accuracy, speed, solving capability, and ability to find true maximum value) improves as the number of digits in the input cells is reduced. Therefore, it is recommended that input values be limited to as few digits as possible.

Example

a) If sales are 300,000,000, reduce the number of digits to 7 or less, e.g. enter 300000.

b) If sales are 1,000,000, you can enter 1000000, but it is recommended that you enter 1000.

c) If sales are 500,000, you may want to enter 500000, rather than 500 for better readability and presentation of the results.

d) If sales are 456,345, you may want to enter 456000. This will improve readability and presentation of the results. Valuation results, often, are not expected to be accurate to the last digit.

Make sure all input data is entered on a consistent basis in the remaining fields. Do not enter comma between digits (i.e. do not enter the character "," between digits)
